These barrels are made from Japanese Mizunara wood, which was transported from Japan to China, where the barrels were crafted. This is not Mongolian Oak from China or Korean. We offer Mongolian Oak barrels separately. 

There are not enough coopers in Japan to fill demand. That is why we are having these high quality barrels made for us in China. Our Mizunara chips are coming directly from a Japanese cooperage. 

Upon receiving our first shipment we were very pleased with the flawless precision of the joints between the staves.
